This page explains how the directory and the guides are produced, verified and corrected.
What this site is
BrazilianFunk.com is a reference resource for Brazilian funk: a verified artist directory plus long-form guides to the genre's history, subgenres and culture. It is independent and not affiliated with Spotify, YouTube, any label or any artist.
How artists are listed
An artist is only published when we can confirm an official Spotify artist profile for them, match that profile to genuine Brazilian funk output, and record a current monthly listener figure. Artist links point to official destinations only — never to fan uploads, re-uploads or aggregator pages.
The directory applies a minimum audience threshold so that listings stay useful rather than exhaustive. Artists who no longer meet the criteria can be removed.
How guides are written
Guides are written to explain the genre to readers who may be encountering it in any language. We describe subgenres by their musical characteristics and their history, and we avoid inventing statistics, chart positions, quotes or biographical claims.
Where a claim is contested inside the scene — for example the origins of a subgenre name — we say so rather than pick a side.
Corrections
If a link points to the wrong profile, an artist is misattributed, or a guide contains a factual error, tell us through the contact page and we will fix or remove it. Corrections to artist data take effect as soon as the change is verified.
Independence
Featured placements and collection entries are editorial. They cannot be purchased, and no artist or label pays for inclusion, ranking or removal.
