How We Verify Artists
Every artist page on this site is the result of the same checks. Here is exactly what they are.
1. Official profile matching
We resolve each artist to a single official Spotify artist profile via the Spotify Web API, and store the artist ID rather than a URL string. That means links keep working if a profile URL changes, and it makes impersonator or duplicate profiles easy to rule out.
2. Genre confirmation
The profile's genre metadata and catalogue are checked against Brazilian funk styles — funk carioca, mandelão, bruxaria, automotivo, brega funk, funk ostentação and related tags. Artists whose catalogue is not funk are rejected even if a single track fits.
3. Audience threshold
We record current Spotify monthly listeners and apply a minimum threshold. This keeps the directory to artists a reader can actually go and listen to, rather than every profile that has ever uploaded a funk beat.
4. Re-syncing
Artist records are re-synced against Spotify so genres, listener counts and profile status stay current. Entries that break — profile removed, artist renamed — are corrected or unpublished.
5. Human review
Automated matching proposes; a person confirms. Nothing is published to the live directory from an automated crawl without review, which is how near-name collisions and mislabelled compilations get caught.

- Usually because they are below the audience threshold, or because we could not confirm an official Spotify profile. Send us the artist name through the contact page and we will check.
- Do you link to YouTube and Instagram too?
- Yes, where an official account is confirmed. Unverified or fan-run accounts are not linked.
